FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT
Hello everyone! It looks like we are off to a strong start to the season! We sound great, our numbers are strong, and the music itself is very exciting (I think we will all have stronger diaphragms by the end of the season!). We have a lot of important information to share this week:
Our New Member Reception is this coming Wednesday at 6pm. The whole board (or most of it) will be present, and it will be a great opportunity for all of us to mingle and get to know each other and our new members a bit better. A small reminder that the event is a dish to pass, and finger foods are encouraged.
We need help! We have many members who take on small parts of chorus management, and not only does being active in such a way reduce the overall workload for some, but it also gives one a deeper sense of belonging, involvement, and ownership in the overall organization. Most of the jobs that we need help with are very easy, and require very little, if any, time commitment outside of rehearsal. Please don?t assume that someone else will volunteer for these jobs, especially if you have even the slightest interest. We could really use the help.
We are in
need of a snack person or team- could that be you, or you and your spouse or friend?
It?s very easy! All you have to do is plug in (and turn on, as we learned the
other night!) the tea water at the beginning of rehearsal, bring out the bucket
of snacks and cups (in the beginning of rehearsal or right before break), and
put it all back afterwards. Overall, it takes very little effort if just one or
two people deal with it, and the pay-off is big. We all love our tea and snacks,
and are very grateful when they are ready at break. If you?d like, you can handle
the money for purchasing snacks, etc, but you don?t have to. I have no problem
stopping at the store during the week and holding the money.
Would you like
to do this, or do you have questions? Email me or call me- bellamayophoto@hotmail.com
or 533-0075
Connie needs help manning the table for ad sales- Again; a few
extra hands will make for much lighter work. Connie did this by herself last year,
and would really like a hand or two to help this year. Ad sales are one of our
biggest sources of revenue to keep us going from year to year. Orchestras and
soloists get pretty pricy. All this would require is helping her to stand at a
table during break, and perhaps right after rehearsal for a few moments to hand
out ad packages and help coordinate where people should go to get ads. It?s really
quite easy, especially if two people are at the table together (one can even go
grab a cup or two of tea while the other person is at the table!).
Would you
like to do this, or do you have questions? Email Connie Thomas- thomasc@ithaca.edu
It?s Ad Sales Time! Start your list of businesses and Individuals that you?d like to approach. Like last year, we have decided to collaborate with VOICES for program ad sales. In doing so, we broke records in revenue collected through ad sales, and the shared program saved us on paper and production costs. Connie will have the table ready on Wednesday with materials, location lists, and former programs for you to look at. This year, we have also decided to allow personalized ads, like one might find in a year book. Do you have an embarrassing baby photo of a fellow member? Has someone gotten or is someone getting married this year? Does someone deserve a congratulations, or remembrance due to passing? Keep these thoughts in mind?
Rehearsal Schedules should be available on the website for downloading and printing before next rehearsal. I?ll have some at rehearsal for those who are internet/ printer impaired, but would greatly appreciate if people could print them from the website.
Well, that was a lot of information to get out, and I hope I covered all of the bases. Looking forward to the coming week (and party!),
Steph
Meyer
