MESSAGE FROM GERALD WOLFE
>
> HOMEWORK FOR 10/24: Handel Anthem #3,
The King Shall Rejoice, and
> Haydn Sanctus/Benedictus.
>
>
All the information you need is contained in the attachment.
>
> 1.
Finish entering measure numbers and markings into your scores for Handel Anthem
#2 and Haydn Credo.
>
> 2. If you have a Schirmer score, put a fermata
on the 2nd and 4th bars of the Haydn Sanctus and cross out the 3rd and 6th bars.
Then enter the measure numbers at the beginning of each system of the Sanctus/Benedictus.
>
>
3. Mark your Sanctus/Benedictus text for German Latin pronunciation.
>
>
4. Altos and Basses: Please make the following corrections to the Credo in your
Schirmer score:
>
> a. m. 75: Change the half note and two quarters
to a whole note (or just tie them all) and tie it to the dotted half in the next
bar.
>
> b. m. 74-75: Change the text to correspond to the soprano
(tenor) text
>
> c. m. 76: Cross out "coe."
>
>
The text from m. 73-77 should read "descendit de coelis," with "coe"
sung for 2 bars and "lis" sung on the fermata as printed.

FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT
>
> Hello Everyone!
> Well, the semester
is progressing quickly! How exciting... and there's plenty to do.
> Keep
an eye out for volunteer opportunities coming up.
>
> Jon Meigs (joncm1@aol.com)
needs help planning a workshop. We didn't have one last semester, and would really
like to have one for this semester. Those of you who checked the 'workshop' box
on the registration form should be receiving an email shortly. Others are also
encouraged and welcomed to help.

> The ad sale deadline is approaching
November 15th (firm). I can't say often enough how important the ad sales are
to the organization. They help keep ticket prices down as well as our dues. I,
for one, and I know this is probably true for everybody, would just hate to see
dues and ticket prices increase.
>
> John Whooton (jfw1@cornell.edu)
and Jeannie Griffith are looking for help with publicity. This is a job that,
when split between a few people, can be very easy- mostly phone calls and posting
on a few websites, sending a few emails, etc.
>
> I (bellamayophoto@hotmail.com)
need one or two people to help with ticket selling. This would be an excellent
opportunity for someone who is not a chamber singer (for time management reasons).
I would get the tickets ready, as well as the spreadsheets, and you would just
have to do the distribution during rehearsals, keeping track of how many tickets
each person has and how much money they have turned in so far. It's very easy
with the spreadsheet I've made, and if two people are at the table, one can get
snacks and tea, and the other can get the table set up, and then you can work
together. It would be fun and easy.
>
> Waterfall Calenders will be
for sale next week at rehearsal. We are only able to get 90 of them (so far),
so if you want them, buy early. They will sell for $13 or 2 for $25. Peter Harriott
(ph36@cornell.edu) will be looking for someone to help manage the calender sale.
>
>
Also, I have news concerning Thanksgiving week rehearsal. We will not have rehearsal
on Nov 21, and will rehearse at Kendall on the 28th. I have attached a new, hopefully
flawless Fall schedule, and the website will be updated shortly. Thanks Diane!
>
>
Oh yes, if you have made donations to the chorus in the past year, be sure to
check the list for spelling and spousal inclusion mistakes while at rehearsal
next week.
>
> Ok! I'm sure there is more, but I have a tendency to
write books. Looking forward to the next rehearsal,
> Steph Meyer

> MESSIAH REHEARSALS
> The Cortland Messiah
rehearsals have been changed to Tuesday evenings from 7:00-9:15, due to some schedule
conflicts with members of the chorus. If any ICC members would like to join us,
it would be splendid! The dress rehearsal is Saturday, Dec. 1, 2:00-5:00. Performance
is with professional orchestra, hot-shot, magnificent soloists, good food and
artwork afterward in the reception, and an incredibly enthusiastic audience. Who
could ask for more after a 35-minute drive?
