HOMEWORK FOR 2/13
Review #1, 5, 9, 11. Study #12, 13, 16.
RECORDINGS OF ELIJAH
Several people have asked for a recommendation of recordings. My favorite is the Harmonia Mundi CD by Philippe Herreweghe, but it's in German. I think the best English recording for our purposes is the Chandos CD directed by Richard Hickox. The Shaw (Telarc) and Marriner (Philips) have changed the words. The Daniel (London) is pitched down a half step.
MESSAGE
FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT
Top Secret Info From the VP:
Next Tuesday, February 12, is Gerald's Birthday! Last year, we tried to surprise him with a cake, but we were thwarted by a huge snow storm........so, at the New Member Reception next Wednesday night, we will have a surprise cake for Gerald. Leaks of this sensitive top secret information are highly discouraged!!
Hello Choristers!
Well, here we are in an Ithaca February.....gray, gray, gray. However, I have noticed daffodils peaking out of the ground, so there is a reassurance that warmth and sun are on their way.
Just a few reminders:
New Member Reception!
"We Love Our New Members" Wednesday February 13th @ 6:15
Whip out
those heart shaped muffin pans and cookie cutters that only get used once every
few years and make some heart-y snacks! Come and bond with the whole board and
mingle with each other and above all, our new members.
New rehearsal schedules, fact sheets, etc. are on the ICC Web site ( http://ithacacommunitychorus.clarityconnect.com).
A heavy blue sweater was left at rehearsal last Wednesday night. Contact me to claim (bellamayophoto@hotmail.com).
Thanks and Be Well,
Steph Meyer

STILL MISSING 4 BLUE HAYDN SCORES
Although most of you
have kindly returned the blue Haydn Scores that we borrowed from Cornell, I'm
still missing 4. Even if you think you returned yours, could you take a look at
home and see if it is hiding somewhere? If you find it, please bring it to next
week's rehearsal and/or email me at <cmf3@cornell.edu> and we can arrange
how to get it to me.
Many thanks

CHAMBER
SINGERS TRY OUTS
Chamber Singers try-outs will take place after rehearsal on February 13. Try-outs are short and painless. We will be preparing 4 Mendelssohn motets, to be performed in a separate performance from Elijah. The concert will also feature an organ performance by the amazingly talented Gerald Wolfe.
