ICC TRIO TOGETHER FOR OVER
45 YEARS!
Three of our ICC members have been singing together for over 45
years. Jack Burns, Carol Skinner, and Yvonne Parkes were members of the Ithaca
Opera Association during the 1960s and 1970s. Jack and Carol played Lt. and Mrs.
Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. Yvonne sang in the choruses of Pagliacci and Tosca
in which Jack was the lead tenor. Both Carol and Yvonne were paired with Jack
in many opera excerpt programs and later sang as soprano and mezzo leads together
in several productions. They also starred in three of Leonard Lehrmans operas
and under his direction frolicked as brother and sister in Hansel and Gretel and
soared as young lovers in Rosenkavalier trios and duets.
Yvonne and Jack
were the soloists in The Messiah during ICCs first season in 1976 and in
the choruss first Mozart Requiem. All three singers sang with the Chamber
Singers for many years. Carol and Jack remain in the group. They have enjoyed
maturing with the chorus and sharing so much of the worlds great vocal music.
