MESSAGE FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT

Hello Chorus,

It's time for concert week!

Here are some important reminders:

Chamber Singers Concerts!!
Come enjoy the Chamber Singers from a seat in the audience! We will be at the Grace Episcopal Church in Cortland (13 Court St) at 7:30 Saturday night, and at the Unitarian Church in Ithaca at 8:00 on Sunday night. Ushers and helpers should arrive 1/2 hour before concert time.

Concert Week Schedule:
Tuesday 8:00 pm: Concert set-up (the more people who show up, the more quickly it will go)
Wednesday 6:00 pm: Chamber Singers
6:45 pm: Chorus (ready to sing--please warm up before you arrive)
Friday 6:00 pm: Program stuffing
6:45 pm: Chorus
Saturday 6:45 pm: Chorus

On stage comfort and etiquette:
- Please remember to keep chat to an absolute minimum so that Mike and Gerald (who will be under enough stress already) don't have to shout at us in front of the orchestra and soloists.
- Also, remember that it may be cool upon arrival and will get hot under the lights and in cramped quarters, so layer your clothing. Furthermore, be mindful of personal smells: a number of our members are very sensitive (will get sick) to chemical smells such as perfume and cologne, and we are all sensitive to other odors. Remember to only bring water in a tightly closed container, and that food is not allowed in the sanctuary.

It might be a good idea to bring a small supply of paper clips so that you can clip off your music after the soloists sing through their parts.

Concert CDs
Concert CD's for Mendelssohn's Elijah can be ordered from Joyce Morgenroth, 474 Snyder Hill Road, Ithaca, NY 14850. You can find the order forms on the Web site or get one from Joyce at the rehearsals this coming week. It has been decided to sell the concert CD's at a price of 20$. Normally, it would not be possible to sell a double CD at this cost, but Rep Studios is kindly giving us a discount for last semester's CD problem, making it possible for us to sell the Elijah CD's at a reasonable price to chorus members. CD's will be available for pickup at rehearsals in the fall. If you prefer to have the CDs mailed to you, please add $3 per copy. If you have questions, you can reach Joyce at jdm9@cornell.edu.

Concert Dress
All black, including your shoes and tights, with no flashy jewelry. Remember that if you are in need, you may bring a receipt from a used clothing store and be reimbursed for up to $10 for concert clothing.

Post Concert Party
I think I have someone who is willing to host the post-concert gathering. I've not received a definite answer, so I can't tell you who yet. Directions will be available later next week.

Tickets
Remember that ticket envelopes (filled with large sums of cash and/ or checks) are due back to Sunny no later than the end of rehearsal next Friday night. It's very important that we have an idea of how many tickets have been sold, just in case we reach capacity (which we have done in the past! Let's do it again!), and it is difficult for Sunny to have to chase people around on concert night. Winner gets a large 85% chocolate bar!

Posters
I hope those posters are going up all over town! remember that they don't do us any good sitting in your music folder or on your kitchen counter (they just end up being expensive post-concert scrap paper).

E-Flier
An e-flier will be send to you in a separate e-mail (the file is quite large). These, according to our concert questionnaire last concert, are very useful for recruiting audience members, and are free publicity! Again, thanks Elizabeth, for your good work.

Please contact me if you do not plan on singing in the concert, and did not mark so on the attendance sheet: bellamayophoto@hotmail.com

Next season, we will be singing a selection of Opera Choruses! Our first rehearsal will be September 3rd, 2008. Registration materials will be available online by July first, rather than next week, as we are discussing a possible modification of dues structures (they aren't going up though!).

Thank you everyone! I remember that last concert, a large number of us were very sick for concert week. It was quite a challenge. Please be well, stay well, and be safe for the following week, so that we can blow the crowd away with this incredibly powerful music. Tell all of your friends and family--not only are we singing Elijah, we are singing ALL of Elijah, and most people don't get a chance to ever hear it in its entirety.
