VOICES Multicultural Chorus began its first year in the fall of 2002. VOICES is a choral project of the Ithaca Community Choruses. The intent of VOICES is to expand Ithaca Community Choruses outreach to the Ithaca community and create a multicultural group of singers interested in learning, sharing, and singing songs from diverse ethnic choral traditions. Our hope is that this group will serve to broaden your musical understanding and promote racial and cultural harmony through the experience of singing world music with other members of the Ithaca community. We may perform in various community venues such as local schools, senior homes and community sponsored events, as well as have at least one major concert a year. Currently, we have about 100 members. Everyone is welcome to join; you do not have to know how to read music and there are no auditions. Recently, we started a new group comprised of a small subset of VOICES called Inner Voices. It is a small, auditioned ensemble of VOICES members launched by Director Whitehead in the Spring of 2008. This energetic group will be an exciting part of our annual concerts. Members also look forward to invitations to perform at community events. If you are interested in joining, let our Director know and he will let everyone know about auditions. |
