| Jennifer
Haywood holds degrees in music education, performance, and conducting
from Ithaca
College and from
the University of Toronto. She is currently entering her sixth
year as Assistant Professor of Music Education teaching music
education and conducting courses at Ithaca College where she serves
as conductor of the Ithaca College Intergenerational Choir. Prior
to her work at Ithaca College, Dr. Haywood taught in the Ithaca
City Public Schools, served as Director of Choral Activities for
St. Bonaventure University, served as conductor of the Master
Chorale of the University of Toronto, and served as the Elmer
Iseler Conducting Fellow at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Haywood has been active as conductor
and clinician at regional, state, and international presentations.
Haywood's current research focuses on including individuals with
special needs in choirs. She has been published in General Music
Today, The Canadian Music Educator, and Music Education Research
of Exetor University. Dr. Haywood also contributed four repertoire
resource guides to the upcoming book Teaching Music Through Performance
in Choir, Volume 2. She has been on the faculty of the Ithaca
Children's Choir for over twelve years where she currently conducts
the Senior Choir and co-conducts the Young Men's Chorus of Ithaca.
Dr, Haywood also regularly volunteers with the Greater Ithaca
Activities Center 5 and 6 year old program as well as the Community
Unity outreach program with Baruch Whitehead.
She is honored to be a part of the VOICES
Chorus of the Ithaca Community Chorus organization and strives
to create an inclusive environment for all people with the music
of many times and many places. She strongly feels that all voices
are welcome and all voices are beautiful! |
